LBJ National Grasslands, Texas
Research Natural Area

The LBJ National Grasslands are located north and east of Decatur, Texas, and are managed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service. The LBJ includes the “Cross Timbers Research Natural Area,” a 100+ acre ravine of post oak and juniper woodland. The RNA appears to have experienced intense land use in the past and is now being heavily invaded by young juniper. However, several very old post oak trees remain scattered through the RNA.
